Gas is flared or burned at low efficiency, H₂S and CO₂ corrode equipment, and existing CO₂ systems are often outdated or difficult to scale. Energy demand for steam and process heat remains high, and reliance on purchased natural gas and CO₂ keeps costs volatile.
